Our History
Drake's Show Cattle started out as Drake's Angus back in 2003. Todd Drake, the founder of Drake's Show Cattle, grew up working for Summitcrest Angus Farms, which helped to aid in the decision to start the herd with two solid Angus heifers. Both heifers did well in the ring and had many productive years. Since then, more heifers have been bought, but most of them have stemmed from that first cow line, which is still superior today. Also, though an Angus background is still prevalent in the herd, genetics from Maine and other Cross bulls has been introduced in the recent years.
Our Operation
Our calves are guaranteed a strong and healthy life even before they hit the ground. We follow rigorous vaccination procedures for both the cows and the calves and also feed supplements to the show calves to promote hair growth and increased feed efficiency. Our calves are halter broke by the time they are three months old, and weaned by 5 months. During this time, they are broke to lead, taught to set up and put through an overall show calf boot camp.
